Dr Ali Bahaijoub examines one of North Africa’s most enduring and complex political disputes: the future of Western Sahara and the evolving relationship between Morocco and Algeria. Marking 50 years since Morocco’s recovery of the territory from Spanish colonial rule, this timely discussion explores the historical roots of the conflict, recent diplomatic developments, and the impact of UN efforts to advance a lasting political solution. Offering insight into a question that has shaped regional politics for decades, this event will consider the challenges, opportunities and prospects for peace in the region.
