Lesley Adkins

Lesley Adkins is a historian, archaeologist and author of eighteen widely acclaimed books on social history, military and naval history, ancient Greece and Rome, archaeology and Egyptology. Her books have so far been translated into sixteen languages worldwide. They include Eavesdropping on Jane Austen’s EnglandJack TarThe War for All the OceansEmpires of the Plain and The Keys of Egypt. Her latest book is Gibraltar: The Greatest Siege in British History. She is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists. She lives near Exeter in Devon.
