​​​The Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival celebrates its 12th edition on the Rock, marking over a decade of vibrant literary culture and intellectual exchange. Since its inception, the festival has become a cornerstone event, drawing writers, poets, and thinkers from around the globe, while also welcoming influential figures from beyond the literary world, including a recent visit by Sir Mo Farah.

This edition promises a diverse lineup of renowned authors and engaging discussions, reflecting the festival’s continued commitment to storytelling, shared ideas, and the celebration of human experience within Gibraltar’s unique and historic setting.

Callarte

organised by Joseph Alecio and the Fine Arts Association, CALLARTE is a unique initiative combining art, gastronomy and music with local artists showcasing their work in participating restaurants across Gibraltar. The project aims to support the business community while encouraging public engagement with the arts in everyday spaces.

Echoes of Legacy Book Launch

Artist and teacher Karl Ullger will launch his latest publication Echoes of Legacy, at the City Hall. This will feature a multidisciplinary event featuring discussion, performance and visual art inspired by iconic masterpieces from art history.

Alice's Table 8 Book Launch

Writer, journalist and broadcaster Alice Mascarenhas launches the eighth book of her popular Alice’s Table series. This edition once again carries the stories first shared and published over the past year in her regular weekly column Alice’s Table in the Gibraltar Chronicle. Alice’s Table VIII, celebrates community, identity, heritage and traditions. Join us at BOOKgem during Festival week to meet the writer and discuss the latest chapter in this collection. 

Library Tour

Step back in time and explore Gibraltar’s literary heritage on our guided walking tour. Discover the stories behind the Rock’s historical libraries and booksellers, from the exclusive Garrison Library, built for officers in 1804, to the civilian-founded Commercial Library tucked away in Bedlam Court. Uncover how these institutions left their mark on history. Includes a drink at BOOKgem to finish the evening.

Lines of Light

Line of Light Haiku Project installation at the Gibraltar Lighthouse will invite visitors to create haiku poetry inspired by Europa Point's landscape, heritage and natural beauty, contributing to a growing community artwork. Each handwritten poem will be added to the staircase creating a public authored installation. During festival week, ticket holders will be entitled to an admission discount to the Lighthouse. Proyecto Slam

The festival’s commitment to inspiring young people is reflected in Proyecto Slam – Rock Slam, an immersive poetry programme aimed at Year 9 students at Bayside and Westside Schools, led by Jonathan Teuma and the Department of Education. Through workshops and poetry slams, students will develop reading, writing and public speaking skills, culminating in a public Grand Final at the John Mackintosh Hall Theatre on the 14th December.
